Helmets for Hope Campaign

On October 6th, 2009, the LGS Foundation and the American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation will
launch a one-month long, national campaign for "Helmets for Hope".

Helmets for Hope aims to raise awareness of severe epilepsy disorders, including those which
are characterized by atonic, or drop-attack seizures. Objectives of the campaign include :

1. Gaining support from professional athletes (in particular, those who wear helmets in their
careers) to raise awareness of atonic seizures and severe epilepsy disorders.
2. Harnessing the power of professional athletes to help erase the stigma associated with children
with epilepsy who wear helmets.
3. Encouraging different media platforms around the United States to publish stories or produce
feature pieces about Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and atonic seizures.
4. Asking other epilepsy organizations for their support in raising awareness for this campaign.
5. Creating a public service announcement about "Helmets for Hope" to air on local television
stations and numerous websites.
6. Distributing helmets to individuals with epilepsy in need.
7. Distributing "Helmets for Hope" materials at a number of epilepsy events. (List coming soon)
